Ten Life Laws

(by Jay McGraw, Life Strategie for Teens)

1. You either get it or you don't. (Be real and figure out what makes you tick.)

2. You create your own experience. (Don't be a victim - reach out for what you want.)

3. People do what works. (You are only addicted if you don't take responsibility.)

4. You cannot change what you do not acknowledge. (Be honest about your faults.)

5. Life rewards action. (You can't earn a thing by sitting around.  Get up and work.)

6. There is no reality, only perception. (Our perception determines our outcome.)

7. Life is managed, not cured. (Life isn't easy.  Keep it in gear - no coasting.)

8. We teach people how to treat us.  (Others believe about you what you do.)

9. There is power in forgiveness.  (We must let go of past hurt and offenses.)

10. You have to name it before you can claim it. (Figure out what you really want.)

As parents, we need to ask ourselves: "What will build the character of my kids?" "What will enable them to influence their world?"  Will they be influenced by the world or influenced the world?  Of course, we wanted our children to be history-makers and world shakers!  And we have a great part or role to play in their lives.  What a great task and a great opportunity as well!
